Taking it Past Sunday - How Can You Help?

                                                         How can you help?

Nehemiah 2:1-8

What is the purpose of a church body?

This certainly seems like a loaded question doesn’t it? After all, we have thousands of churches across America, and every one of them has an answer to the question above.

As a new church, we have learned very quickly: we decide for ourselves how we answer this question. Will we be a social club? A support group or a charity?

What does God want us to be?

We have committed together, and have agreed with one another that our goal is this: “to reach the lost world around us with the gospel of Jesus Christ; to show them His love and help them grow to be more like Christ each day.” This is why we started Faith Baptist Church of Northern Macomb.

How do we accomplish this goal?

By looking at the life of Nehemiah, we can see how God can use anyone. Nehemiah started as anobody and ended up a hero.

1.     Personalize the burden – A burden is a need someone has picked up and is carrying. Do you see the faces around you? Each person you see is a person that Jesus loves and died for.

      2.     Step in Faith – Faith is necessary when fear is present. God has called you to a task, and the only way it can be accomplished is through His enablement. Have you covered it in prayer?

3.     Expect God to Work – True faith is: confidence in the results before they have arrived. God wants to use us in an amazing way. If He has called us to a need, you can be sure His result will be amazing.

It all sounds so good on paper, but the purpose of God’s message is to live it every day. What need have you carried this week. Find one. Make it your burden. Someone around you needs to see the love of Christ. Will you show them?
