Past Sunday – Can You Take It Back?

Can you take it back?

Psalm 51

Hear the sermon at:   Take It Back? – Pastor Troy Budreau on 10/05/08

 Think Deep

The hardest element of the question above is that you have done something that you regret doing, and more than anything, you wish it could be undone. Take a sin you have committed this week, and run it through these questions.

1.     Why do you regret your mistake?

2.     Who is hurt most by what you have done?

3.     Why did you do it in the first place?

If you are like me, you are beginning to realize the selfishness of your own heart. Let me guess, your sin was established on the grounds of self-interest. You regret it because you hurt someone else, and you did it because you thought is was best for you. Right now, God is asking for a broken heart.

Make It Real

                    1.     Think of a time this week when you committed a sin (feel free to use the one above).

                    2.     Did you already confess it?

                    3.     In the holiness of God’s eyes are you completely clean?

Although I get discouraged when I realize just how many times I sin in an hour, my heart overflows with relief when I think of the forgiveness God offers because of what Christ did on my behalf.

Keep Clean

We all want to believe that everything is fine between God and us. But is it really? Remember, God doesn’t ask for greatness, He asks for perfection. Greatness allows for a small corner of sin, while perfection demands complete purity.

Seems impossible doesn’t it? I have found that when I try hard, I become keenly aware of how much I fail. Yet, when I turn to my Heavenly Father and cry out in despair, He helps me yield to Him and keeps me from falling once again.

He wants to grow you the same way He saved you, through grace. The question that I must leave you with is this:

            What do you want most?
